Exon: Fragment v0.06


Exon: Fragment v0.06 is here! I've done a pretty major art overhaul so hopefully you'll enjoy these slightly grittier new details when you zoom in. Also finally joining the game is the Friendly Arm Waystation, a shopping hub where you can buy and sell, repair and identify and more. This is where you'll be coming back to between missions so don't be too sad if you can't afford the tastiest items just yet...

  • SAVED GAMES FROM 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04 AND 0.05 CAN NO LONGER BE LOADED IN 0.06
  • NEW: you can now travel to the Friendly Arm Waystation. Enjoy the following amenities at this exon meeting ground:
    • Blacksmith: get your degrading equipment repaired here, and get metal ingots made into something special
    • Shrine: if you're not sure what an item does, ask the Priest!
    • Stow Pit: store items in the Stow Pit that you want to hold onto, but don't want to lug around with you all the time
    • Hotel: if it's dark outside and you'd rather travel by daylight, stay here for a few hours
    • Other exons: get the latest gossip from all the other exons who come and go
    • Plus shops and mech bays for repair, respray and general trading
  • NEW: Instant Action mode -- play a quick Arena match without getting into the campaign!
  • Fixed frame-rate halving with inventory screen open (why yes, I did leave the main game camera running behind the paper doll camera)
  • Fixed issue where numerous HUD elements would disappear if Anti-Aliasing was disabled
  • Fixed issue where several mechs would be missing parts after loading a saved game
  • Fixed issue where overworld travel could take much longer than shown on the map, and cause being waylaid to break
  • Fixed issue where hero would give "friendly fire" bark on damaging themself
  • Fixed issue where engine sounds would not follow trucks as they moved
  • Fixed issue where sporadic enemies would cause the Game Over screen to show when killed
  • Fixed issue where neutral guards would be attracted by the sound of a fight but only get in the way instead of engaging
  • Fixed issue where picking a quest item up from the inventory screen would not trigger quest updates
  • Fixed issue where environmental lighting/fog settings may not have been restored properly on loading a saved game
  • Fixed issue where mechs could run on the spot during melee attacks
  • Fixed issue where neutral units would not retaliate when attacked or murdered
  • Fixed issue where warning window for trying to load an incompatible saved game would not show
  • Fixed issue where item icons were too bright
  • Fixed issue where "out of ammo" and "out of energy" messages and sounds did not always play
  • Fixed issue where destroying a civilian in one hit would not elicit a response from guards
  • Fixed targeting reticle sizes for various units, items and usable objects
  • Fixed Rust Mite Datacube being named only "Datacube"
  • Fixed Laser Rifle item description not showing damage value
  • Fixed pressing "Back" after "Surprise Me" during character creation not showing the generated name
  • Fixed player being able to equip Unidentified items
  • Fixed Harpoon not playing impact sounds correctly, and added missing reel-in sound
  • Fixed even more issues with world travel and getting waylaid
  • Fixed bolo rounds sticking around for a moment after impact
  • Audio: Reduced volume & range of some looping sounds, and some looping sounds remaining after they should have stopped
  • Audio: Added missing engine sounds and distinct jump sound to hovering vehicles
  • Art: Reworked primary mech atlas texture
  • Art: Reworked numerous vehicle and item models
  • Art: Made street lights a murky yellow colour
  • HUD: Increased width of broadcast message panel a little, so messages don't feel so crunched up
  • HUD: Added item vs equipped equivalent comparison to inventory tooltips
  • Balance: Tweaked damage values of some weapons and projectiles
  • Balance: Made Credit Chits a little more generous
  • Exon Academy: fixed leaving via the secret exit before destroying the road block
  • Exon Academy: added more street lights to the Gauntlet
  • Exon Academy: made Gauntlet communicators more obvious
  • Train Depot: fixed generator collision

I like it :) nice game play and graphics style

New save format. ok! It is still earely dev state. So good luck!

It's not so much a format change as I had a bug in my editor tools that kept leaving me with duplicate prefab IDs. This would disconnect a load of pieces when I tracked down and regenerated each item. I think -- think! -- I've finally cracked it, so future versions should finally be able to absorb earlier saves. Should. Hopefully. We shall see.
